A Gorgeous Fall Wedding in the Hudson Valley at Hutton Brickyards

When Colleen and Sean came to us to plan their fall wedding in the Hudson Valley, we were thrilled. Their wedding took place in one of our favorite Hudson Valley wedding venues, Hutton Brickyards, and we can’t wait to share some of our favorite photos from the day. They came to us with a love of traditional fall wedding colors (think burgundy and dusty pinks) but wanted their wedding to feel equally romantic AND fun. Match that with the industrial vibe of the venue and we couldn’t wait to start designing something incredible for them. It’s All In The Details

Colleen and Sean’s wedding ceremony exemplified the power of personalization. It served as a testament that weddings aren’t just about rituals but about creating an experience that truly speaks to the hearts of the couple and their loved ones. We love how they wanted to infuse their own story into every aspect of their special day.

For the wedding, we also had a team of some of our favorite vendors (scroll to the end for the vendor credits), and it truly made all the difference. In fact, Colleen and Sean even mentioned that because of the longer engagement (thank you, COVID), by the time the wedding came around, so many of their vendors felt like friends!

A Gorgeous Outdoor Ceremony for this Fall Wedding in the Hudson Valley

Colleen and Sean envisioned a ceremony that went beyond the traditional cookie-cutter scripts – something distinctively theirs. Gone were the notions of a long, generic ceremony. They wanted something short, sweet, and tailored specifically for them. And to make their special day even more memorable, they wanted to involve their friends and family as readers. That’s exactly what they got!

As for the design, we love asking couples what they are drawn to at home to give us a starting point for their wedding design. Because they live by the river, they mentioned they found themselves drawn to simple things that don’t detract from the natural beauty of their view. Naturally, we embraced the same concept when it came to their ceremony decor. Drawing from their love for the serene beauty of the Hudson River, we crafted a hexagonal arch that perfectly framed the breathtaking view. Adorned with two fall floral arrangements, we made sure they didn’t overpower the natural elegance of the setting. We loved the result!

A Moment for the Mouthwatering Cocktail Hour

Great food tends to be high on the priority list for most of the couples we work with – and Colleen and Sean were no exception! After the wedding, we asked them what one of their favorite personal details was and this is what they said:

One thing we loved about our wedding day was working with Elite and Fig & Pig (our caterers) to truly design a menu of foods that we loved. It was fun to create a cocktail hour of all the little bites that we love to eat when we are out…our guests loved that too!

Reception Ideas for a Fall Wedding in the Hudson Valley

We absolutely adored blending traditional autumn hues with rustic, organic table arrangements for a relaxed vibe (because who wants a stuffy wedding, right?). The color palette exuded pure romance, while the gentle flicker of candles elevated the enchanting ambiance that lasted all night long. Everything about their reception was pure perfection.

A Beautiful Hudson Valley Reception

Colleen and Sean wanted their wedding to be “a night that everyone remembers for a long time; a night where they dance til their feet hurt, laugh til their stomachs ache and above all were floating high on the energy of our love”. Watching their family and friends celebrate with them (and watching the way Colleen and Sean looked at each other throughout the night), we can’t help but feel that’s exactly what they got! The views from Hutton Brickyards were just icing on the cake.

Planning a Fall Wedding in the Hudson Valley?

Fall weddings in the Hudson Valley are truly breathtaking: the changing leaves, the old stone walls, and the wooden barns all provide a stunning backdrop for a romantic wedding day. When we asked Colleen and Sean what advice they had for future couples, this is what they said:

Start with hiring your planner first! That’s one thing we didn’t do that we would c hange in hindsight. Second, do a first-look! It takes away any nerves and truly is the one intimate and personal moment you’ll have with your partner likely all day. Lastly, take a breath after your wedding, don’t rush to your honeymoon wait a week or longer; its a whole different kind of exhaustion you feel the Monday after weddi ng weekend.
