Summer Wedding at Hutton Brickyards in Kingston

How they met…

The first thing we ask our couples during consultations is how they met. We really like to get to know the whole story. Jamie and Mike’s story was a bit non-traditional like their wedding at Hutton Brickyards!

They were set up by a real matchmaker. Their first date was at a comedy club, but the date that ultimately led to them knowing they had a real connection was the second date! They went to a dive bar around the corner called the Commodore. This was not the original plan but it worked. They have fried chicken sandwiches and nachos (not your traditional first date food either). They played a few rounds of “would you rather” then they went to see a (bad) blue grass band. Even though it was not their original plan, it was still had a great time. Following that trend of non-traditional vibes, the engagement itself was no different.

The proposal….

So how did Mike propose? They were making dinner. Once everything was on the stove and in the oven, Mike pulled out a candy dish and asked Jamie if she wanted some chocolate (Cadbury mini eggs to be specific). She said “of course!” When she looked in the bowl, there was a diamond ring. She didn’t know exactly what was happening at first, but then she looked at Mike and he said, “will you marry me?”  The rest is history!

The venue…

Given they met and got engaged in very non-traditional ways, it felt just like them to chose a non-traditional venue, Hutton Brickyards for their wedding weekend. They chose Hutton Brickyards because they liked the mix of industrial and rustic. The bonus for them was it featured beautiful views of the Hudson River.
