Intimate Summer Wedding at the Garrison

About the Day

Arjuna came to us about 5 months before she got married. Initially, she hired us to find an upstate New York wedding venue. She knew that her fiance, James, wasn’t 100% onboard with a big wedding so she would have to find the perfect venue and then get him on board with her vision. James was a bit shy and wasn’t into having a big formal wedding. If he had his way, it would have been straight to City Hall for an intimate ceremony. Arjuna, on the other hand, was dreaming up something slightly larger. She wanted to walk down the aisle in a beautiful wedding gown in front of friends and family. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous taking her around looking at venues without the groom being on board but in the end, she knew best!

After visiting several venues, we landed on the Garrison. She loved the ceremony backdrop but wasn’t totally fond of the reception space. That’s when I came up with the idea of doing the ceremony at the Garrison and the reception at the Highlands Country Club. The compromise would be on a weekday wedding. The couple hoped that fewer people would be willing to drive upstate on a weeknight for the wedding. Well, that’s not exactly what happened. It turned out that 80 of their closest friends and family were willing to make the drive. Even with the larger wedding, James had so much fun at the wedding. We couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with on fully planning a wedding in just 5 short months. Check out the visual story of the day below.
