A Vibrant Wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns
We have been dying to share photos from Katie and Brendan’s wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and today is FINALLY the day. They came to us with visions of a more traditional fall wedding color palette, and we took their vision and created a vibrant and chic wedding design that would be unique to them (and ultimately take their guests breath away!). If beautiful wedding flowers, mouthwatering food, and having a great time are your top priorities on your wedding day, you are going to love this Blue Hill Farms wedding too. Getting Ready Details
There was so much we loved about Katie and Brendan’s wedding day, so excuse us while we just dive into it. First, the hand-drawn touches you’ll see throughout their wedding day started on their invitation suite (which also incorporated the lush and natural beauty of the wedding venue). We love a cohesive wedding experience, and this one was off to a fantastic start.
Katie’s gown made our jaws drop especially knowing it had been passed down and worn by three generations. She did take her mother’s (and grandmother’s) gown in for alterations to match her vision, but ultimately it made her attire that much more special. On top of that, Katie and Brendan wanted to include subtle nods to their love of traveling and adventuring together throughout their wedding day. They had both lived in Europe for a few years, and Katie wore a custom charm bracelet with a few of their adventures so far (but we have a feeling the best is yet to come!).
Wedding Party Alternatives
While we are seeing some couples ditch wedding parties altogether (or opt for just one maid of honor and one best man), Katie and Brendan took a different approach. They each had their side of the wedding party to honor and celebrate their closest friends and family, but they didn’t choose to label one of them as a “maid of honor” or “best man”. They were all VIP’s.
Outdoor Wedding Portraits
One of our favorite questions to ask new couples is what they like to shop for. Katie replied that one of her favorite shopping pleasures was plants! Naturally, this wedding venue (and the gorgeous outdoors) was the perfect place to start the day for their first look and outdoor wedding portraits. Katie and Brendan love to go hiking and exploring together and I’m so glad their wedding portraits truly reflect the outdoorsy nature of their relationship.
Gorgeous Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
Often couples come to us eager to plan their wedding reception, but Katie and Brendan really prioritized their wedding ceremony in a way that we absolutely loved. The courtyard at Blue Hill at Stone Barns was the perfect ceremony location, and we went over the top with vibrant floral arrangements. To maximize their wedding florals, we reused so much of the ceremony flowers instead of creating big opulent table flowers for the dinner. The result, in our humble opinion, was spectacular.
Blue Hill Farms Wedding Reception
Katie and Brendan had booked their wedding at Blue Hill Farms before booking us for full wedding planning and design. They knew food was a top priority for their cocktail hour and reception and trusted Blue Hill Farms to deliver (spoiler alert – they did!). On top of excellent food, Katie and Brendan wanted their guests to have a really great time. Brendan plays music himself, so hiring a band was a top priority for their wedding day.
On top of that, was the gorgeous and vibrant design. Reusing as much of what we could from the wedding ceremony, we completely transformed the reception space into something that felt chic, romantic, and elegant. An abundance of candles and soft lighting only added to the ambiance. Outside, there was a custom lounge setup with string lighting for a first dance under the stars.
Hand-drawn Destination Table Numbers
One last detail that deserves its own shout-out: the table numbers had photos of a few of the destinations Katie and Brendan had traveled to together, handpainted by their paper designer (Kristen at KP & Co Design Studio). Their escort cards led each guest to their destination and it was a personalized detail that had everyone talking all night!
Memorable Wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns
Katie and Brendan’s wedding truly had a little bit of everything we love: a unique and memorable design, personalized and sentimental wedding details, and ___. They prioritized what was important to them and it shows. We wish we could relive their wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns over and over again.
